Lake Bemidji Summer
Opera Festival

Please join us for two operas to be presented: CARMEN and PAUL BUNYAN!

CARMEN is one of the most colorful and beloved operas in opera repertoire and is filled with popularly known arias and choruses including the Habanera and the Toreador Song. The story centers on the loves of Carmen and Don Jose. The opera will be sung in English except for a few major arias sung in French that will be translated and found in the program. For a full synopsis, please click here.

PAUL BUNYAN is a "tall tale" of Paul, his lumberjacks, and frontier women. The highlights of the opera are an epic struggle between Paul and his foreman Hel Helson, and the romance of Slim, "a pretty good cook", and Tiny, Paul’s daughter. As the show ends Paul and Hel remain good friends and Slim and Tiny tie the knot. For a full synopsis, please click here.
